CALL TO WORSHIP

Praise the Lord! O give thanks to the Lord, for God is good;

For the Lord’s steadfast love endures forever.

Who can utter the mighty doings of the Lord, or declare all God’s praise?

Happy are those who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times.

Let us worship the Living God.

Hymn Today: “Lord, Speak to Me”

1. Lord, speak to me, that I may speak in living echoes of thy tone; as thou has sought, so let me seek thine erring children lost and lone.

2. O strengthen me, that while I stand firm on the rock, and strong in thee, I may stretch out a loving land to wrestlers with the troubled sea.

     PRAYER OF CONFESSION (In Unison)

Lord, you see how stubborn we are, how impatient we are when we do not get what we think we deserve. We forget the countless ways you provide, your gracious response to our cries for help. We do not think on things like justice and goodness. We are not known for our gentleness. We cannot justify our behavior, we can only confess it, repent and ask again for your mercy. Forgive us, Lord, so that we can bear witness to your character of loving kindness. In Christ’s name we pray, amen.

*SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION: We take this time to confess our own sins privately to the Lord.

*THE GLORIA PATRI

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

The Lord’s wrath relents, and God instead pours out mercy and grace. Our God refuses to give up on us and instead forgives and frees us. Friends, believe the exceedingly good news, in Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

INVITATION: To the one who feels separated from our Lord:

“Dear Lord, I need You, Please come into my heart today.  Amen”

LESSON: Matthew 22: 1-14

SERMON:                                “Who Calls Us To The Kingdom?”                       Rev. Peter Hofstra

*DOXOLOGY

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.  Amen.

*OFFERTORY PRAYER

JOYS AND CONCERNS

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

It is in the sanctuary that we share and lift requests to the Lord as a community.  Online, we are deliberately more general, as a community, in the joys and concerns we lift, knowing that, almost like the Kingdom of Heaven, things remain on the Internet forever and we are very aware of people’s privacy.  However, people are encouraged to lift their requests to the Lord in the privacy of where they are viewing the service.  In either case, the appropriate response to these requests is “Lord, Hear Our Prayer”.

*LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.

SONG OF RESPONSE: “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”

1. What a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms; what a blessedness, what a peace is mine, leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain: Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

2. O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, leaning on the everlasting arms; O how bright the path grows from day to day, leaning on the everlasting arms. (Refrain)

3. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, leaning on the everlasting arms. (Refrain)

*BENEDICTION

*THREE FOLD AMEN

POSTLUDE
